No: 72, 23 March 2019, Press Release Regarding the Cyclone Idai

Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 23.03.2019

We are deeply saddened and concerned by the humanitarian crises caused by Cyclone Idai in Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe.

We reiterate our condolences to the relatives of the victims and wish for speedy recovery to the injured.

Turkey has promptly joined the international efforts to address the urgent humanitarian needs in the said countries; Turkish Red Crescent and TİKA have started to work in disaster-hit areas in coordination with our relevant Embassies. A military plane carrying a joint search and rescue team of AFAD, Ministry of Health, Turkish Red Crescent and AKUT personnel has left this morning for Mozambique.
