Press Release Regarding the Peace Agreement Signed By the Parties Conflicting in the Republic of South Sudan

Republic Of Türkiye Ministry Of Foreign Affairs 31.08.2015

No: 240, 31 August 2015

We welcome the signing of the Peace Agreement by all parties, which was agreed upon as a result of the works conducted with a view to end the conflicts that has been going on in South Sudan since December 2013 and has led to the death and displacement of a great number of civilians.

We believe that the Peace Agreement signed in consequence of the efforts carried out by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) since the beginning of conflicts and also supported by Turkey constitute an important milestone in creating an environment of stability and confidence needed by the Republic of South Sudan.

We wish that the parties continue their efforts on the path to national reconciliation.
In collaboration with the international community, Turkey will continue providing support to the efforts carried out for the development of South Sudan and for the establishment of peace and stability in the country which Turkey recognized on the first day when South Sudan declared its independence.
