Press Release Regarding the Meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers

The meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers will be hosted by Turkey in Belek/Antalya on 13-14 May 2015.

The meeting will start with the session on NATO Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan. This session will be the first meeting held at the level of Foreign Ministers in the format of Resolute Support Mission (RSM).

Foreign Ministers of 28 Allied nations and Foreign Ministers or senior officials from Afghanistan and RSM partner countries in this country, namely Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Armenia, Finland, Georgia, Ireland, Sweden, Montenegro, Macedonia, Mongolia, Ukraine, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and Jordan as well as EU Representatives and Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Afghanistan are expected to attend the first session that will start with the speech of H.E. Ahmet Davutoğlu, Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey.

NATO-Ukraine Commission will hold a session at the level of Foreign Ministers where the developments in Ukraine will be discussed and a communique will be published at its conclusion.

In the second day of the meeting, activities to be conducted within the Alliance in the process leading to the 2016 Warsaw Summit will be discussed in detail in the 28 format.

It is believed that the hosting of the meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers by Turkey this year indicates the leading role of Turkey within NATO and the importance which Turkey attaches to the collective defense and Alliance solidarity in the present environment of international security.
